We were very humbled and honoured to be awarded two awards at the 2021 Disability Sport and Recreation awards, held on 22nd November 2021.
One of those awards was for the Administrator of the Year, and was won by Solve’s very own Tim Marchinton.
Tim has been an integral administrator in the push for greater accessibility to sport, rec and adventure across regional Victoria. Tim has successfully delivered our Inclusive Community Sports Days in 3 regional cities. The inclusive community sport days are run out of local sport centres and are focused around introducing people with disability to a range of new and exciting sports and activities! People with disabilities and their families are invited to come and try a range of accessible and inclusive sport and recreation activities in a supported community environment.Since inception, Tim has run 6 Community Sport Days across Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and the Mornington Peninsula, helping to connect over 150 participants to local sporting clubs.
Connecting Local Sporting Clubs
One of the biggest challenges for people living with disability when it comes to engaging in sporting activities is that many local clubs aren’t setup or aren’t trained to be accessible. One of the aims of our Community Sport Days is that we bring together local sporting clubs and those participants that attend in a safe and supported environment. This means that we are able to teach local clubs how to be more inclusive, while making those pivotal first connections between club and player.
With every Community Sports Day, we bring a skilled team of Occupational Therapists and Volunteers. Our Occupational Therapists are able to assist any participants on the day, and help run our Freedom Wheels Program, one of the most popular activities on the day!
Our volunteers are highly skilled engineers and mechanics, who love making and fixing things! Together with our Occupational Therapists, they work to improve or modify any sort of Assistive Technology that participants will need to engage in our range of inclusive sports.
Thank you again Disability Sport & Rec for recognising the incredible effort that Tim has put into these Communtiy Sport Days!

Tim and a team of volunteers are also working to make regional camps more accessible, enabling people with disability to participate fully in their camp experience.
Over the course of the last 12 months, Tim and a team of volunteers have been visiting various camps across Victoria and helping them become more accessible and inclusive.

Sometimes the greatest stories can be told from a single smile.
Aaron lives in the outskirts of Geelong and was recently involved in our Freedom Wheels program.
When Aaron came to our clinic for his final assessment, we learned that he loved to do tricks and make skids when riding, and actually used riding as a self-moderating activity to calm himself down. With the help of our very generous volunteer Laurie (who found us 150 tyres!), the My Active Life team surprised Aaron with his very own custom Race Track in his backyard.
This track was created to help Aaron stay safe while riding, while encouraging him to get outside and ride more with his friends and family.
Have a watch below of the great surprise we gave Aaron!
